Teaching and research interests: Sally Magnan has taught and done research in the areas of second language acquisition, foreign language teaching methodology, and the migrant experience in France. With the Language Institute, she is just completing a series of online courses for teaching methods of less commonly taught languages. She has published in many areas of second language learning, including study abroad, anxiety, student goals for language learning, and communicative teaching methods. Her books include co-authorship of two first-year college French textbooks (Paroles and En Route) and several edited volumes, the two most recent on language learning through technology and pedagogical norm. She is currently doing research on student goals for language study in accordance with the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning and the Common European Framework of Reference, as well as a project regarding study abroad.
