The title of this academic year's event is "Milestones."  In the 25^th year of the GAFIS Symposium series, we wish to explore how momentous occasions mark us and how we ourselves create such milestones in our lives.  The interplay between literature, art, and the paradigmatic shifts represented by milestones can inform us on the human condition and how we as humans react to our changing environment.  We will continue the tradition of excellence in fostering intellectual growth and professional training among graduate students in our department, across campus, and nationwide.
