20% Preparation and Participation: Your
regular attendance and preparation for each course are essential to
your success. This includes your active participation in class discussions
as well as a conscientious preparation at home.
25% Papers / Rédactions (3):You
will write 3 papers (2 page minimum) throughout the semester. You will
do 2 versions of each, and each version is worth 50% of the grade.
25% Tests / Contrôles (3):You
will have three 30 to 40-minute tests during the semester to evaluate
your grasp of the grammar, vocabulary, and themes studied in class.
10% In-class essays / Epreuves écrites
(2): Two times during the semester,
you will take an essay exam in class whose questions are based on the
themes, the readings, the films and other materials discussed in class
or prepared at home.
10% Mini-presentations (2): Twice in the
semester, you will present a mini-presentation (4-5 minutes) in front
of the class. They will be in the form of a sketch or on a current event
in the francophone world taken from a televised program, a newspaper
(hard copy or on line) or from the radio (on line).
10% Oral Exam / Final Exam: The oral exam
/ Final exam will take place on the published date of the 227 final
(as noted in the UW-Madison Timetable). You will work with a classmate
and present for the entire class. Your instructor will give you a choice
of subjects based on the themes that you will work on in class this
semester. You will do your presentation, and then you will respond to
questions asked by other members of the class.
